5 Tips For Your Summer Road Trip

Planning a summer road trip? Whether you are headed to the coast, mountains, or a new city, these 5 smart travel tips will help you road trip like a pro - without sacrificing comfort or style!

Choose your stops in advance

Deciding how long you want to drive and having a destination already planned is smart. This avoids running into a sold out hotel situation (I have seen it happen!) and allows you to have a more stress free end of your day. If you want to explore the area you are stopping in, consider skipping the generic motel and choosing a more unique spot!

Have a plan for food

No one likes hangry travelers, so I recommend having at least a loose plan for your meals! Are you going to pack a cooler and eat on the go? Have a picnic along the way? Are you a fast food family? Maybe you want to find a local restaurant to explore instead (Pro Tip #1: use Google or Yelp for reviews). Using Google Maps (or a similar app) can help you find towns and restaurants along the way if you don’t want to bring your own meals.

Pro Tip #2: I always recommend letting everyone pick out their favorite snacks and drinks and having them available in the car, too. This saves you money by buying them in advance.

Pack a Portable Power Station

Don’t have enough charging ports in your vehicle? Consider packing some portable chargers. Bonus points if you want to be more eco-friendly and use a solar powered charger

Make a Playlist

Breaking up what you listen to on the drive is always fun - create a high energy playlist for when you are getting tired, or maybe even cue up some podcasts that will keep you interested on your long drive.

Embrace Slow Travel

No rush, no race - plan fewer stops with more time to explore! Find some fun roadside attractions, interesting towns, or nature trails to explore the areas you travel through. A longer stop can help break up the monotony of driving, especially if you have little ones who need to burn off some energy!
