Universal Epic Universe Orlando: A Complete Family Guide for 2026
I recently had the opportunity to visit Universal Epic Universe in Orlando, and I have so many thoughts to share! This incredible new park opened in May 2025 and has quickly become one of the most talked about theme park destinations in the world. And honestly? It lives up to every bit of the hype. Whether you are planning your first Universal Orlando trip or you are a theme park veteran, here is everything your family needs to know before you go!
What Is Universal Epic Universe?
Universal Epic Universe is Universal Orlando Resort's brand new theme park, and it is unlike anything I have ever experienced. The park is made up of five fully immersive worlds, each with its own rides, dining, shopping, and entertainment. What makes Epic Universe so special is that every world feels completely separate from the others. You walk through a themed portal and feel like you have stepped into an entirely different universe. It is truly magical for families of all ages!
The five worlds at Universal Epic Universe are:
Celestial Park (the central hub and entrance area)
Super Nintendo World
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Ministry of Magic
How to Train Your Dragon, Isle of Berk
Dark Universe
Getting to Epic Universe Orlando
Epic Universe is located on a separate campus from Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, about 15 minutes away. If you are staying at one of the on-site Universal hotels, shuttle transportation is included. The Helios Grand Hotel sits directly on the Epic Universe property and offers a private entrance into the park, which is a wonderful perk for families who want to maximize their time. Two other nearby options, Stella Nova Resort and Terra Luna Resort, also offer early park admission and quick shuttle access. We stayed at Stella Nova and I thought it was great.

Pro Tip: Stay on site if you can! Early Park Admission lets you get a head start before the general public enters, which makes a huge difference for getting on the most popular rides.
The Five Worlds of Epic Universe
Celestial Park
Celestial Park is the gorgeous central hub you walk into when you first enter the park. It is inspired by Art Nouveau design with sweeping fountains, lush gardens, and towering statues. It is worth slowing down and soaking it all in before you head through the portals!
There are two rides here. Stardust Racers is the flagship coaster of Epic Universe and an absolute must for thrill seekers. It is a dual-launch racing coaster that reaches 62 mph and 133 feet in the air! There is also the Constellation Carousel, which has no height requirement and is perfect for the littlest members of your group.
Best for: Thrill seekers and families with young kids alike!
Super Nintendo World
If your family has any Mario fans (and honestly, who doesn't?!), Super Nintendo World is going to be a highlight of your entire trip. It feels exactly like stepping inside my favorite childhood video game and the detail is incredible.
The must-do attraction here is Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge, an augmented reality dark ride where you put on special goggles and race through iconic courses. You will also want to make your way to Donkey Kong Country for Mine-Cart Madness, which is a bumpy, fast, thrilling ride. I will be honest and tell you I didn’t love Mine-Cart Madness. But I did love Bowser’s Challenge and was in awe of the land as a whole.
Pro Tip: Pick up a Power-Up Band (around $45) so you can collect coins, punch blocks, and interact with the world around you. It truly takes the experience to a whole new level, especially for kids!
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Ministry of Magic
This land is set in 1920s wizarding Paris and it is absolutely stunning. The attention to detail is next level. The shops are styled as Parisian cafés and restaurants, and there are spell-casting locations throughout that kids go absolutely wild for. Take my word for it and try the butterbeer crepes if you like butterscotch flavor!
The headliner here is Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, and let me tell you, it is worth every bit of the wait. This is consistently the most popular ride in the park so get here first thing in the morning or use the single rider line to cut down your wait time. I definitely cried when I walked through the floo powder and saw the Ministry for the first time. It took my breath away.
Best for: Harry Potter fans of all ages!
How to Train Your Dragon, Isle of Berk
This was the world I was least sure about going in, and it completely won me over! It has something for genuinely every age in your family. Fyre Drill is a fun boat ride adventure through the world of Berk, Dragon Racer's Rally is a sky fly attraction where you control your own dragon and try to outmaneuver other riders. Hiccup’s Wing Gliders was easily my favorite coaster of the day. It was smooth and lovely.
For the younger kids, the Viking Training Camp play area is fantastic. The food is also good here and the show is not to be missed. It might be the best theme park show I have ever seen.
Best for: Families with kids of all ages, especially younger children!
Dark Universe
Inspired by classic Universal Monsters like Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Werewolf, Dark Universe has a completely different vibe from the rest of Epic Universe. In the best possible way! The atmosphere is moody and immersive and the theming is top notch. As someone who doesn’t like scary things, this land still impressed me and wasn’t too scary.
Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment is a standout attraction with one of the best ride queues I have ever experienced at any theme park. If your family enjoys a little bit of spooky fun, this land will be a favorite!
Best for: Older kids, teens, and adults who love a thrilling atmosphere!

Epic Universe Dining
One of the things that genuinely surprised me about Epic Universe was how good the food is! Each world has its own themed dining options that feel like part of the experience rather than just an afterthought. A few highlights worth planning around:
Mead Hall in Isle of Berk is a fantastic sit-down option with a full Viking feast atmosphere
The cafés and restaurants in Ministry of Magic have a beautiful Parisian wizarding feel
Toadstool Café in Super Nintendo World is a must stop for any Nintendo fan
Bar Helios at the Helios Grand Hotel offers breathtaking 360-degree views of the park and is especially magical on evenings when the Celestial Park fountain show is running
Money Saving Tip: Pizza Moon and Mead Hall both offer large family serving options that cost less per person than ordering individual entrees at other restaurants!
Epic Universe Tips for Families
Here are my top family tips for making the most of your Epic Universe visit:
Arrive at rope drop. Head straight to Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry or Super Nintendo World.
There is more for younger kids than you might expect! Between the Viking Training Camp play area, Yoshi's Adventure, the Constellation Carousel, and character meet and greets, families with little ones will find plenty to love.
Child swap is available at every ride, so no one in your group ever has to miss out.
The park uses facial recognition for entry and Express Pass lanes, which actually speeds things up significantly once you are set up.
Consider visiting in late August or September if your schedule is flexible. Crowds tend to be lower and ticket prices are at some of the best rates of the year.
Book dining reservations in advance, especially for table service restaurants, as they fill up quickly on busy days.

Costs will vary depending on the time of year you visit and what tickets you choose, but a family of four should plan to budget for tickets, food, and any add-ons like Power-Up Bands or Express Pass.
